Oral Conscious Sedation
At a set time before your appointment (often the night before), you’ll take a special kind of medication. By the time someone else brings you to our office, you’ll be in a highly relaxed and rested state. We can’t adjust the level of sedation during the procedure, but we will closely monitor you to make sure you stay comfortable. Once the medication wears off, you might find that you don’t remember the treatment or visit at all!
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Some people only need a mild sedative to stay calm during their appointments. For these patients, we’ll normally recommend nitrous oxide. You’ll breathe in a special gas that will put you in a euphoric state where you won’t care about what’s going on around you. Once we’re done and the mask is removed, the effects of the gas will wear off very quickly, and you’ll feel normal enough to resume your regular routine.
